Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
Privacy laws protect the relationship between a physician and patient; information cannot be released without written permission. I will always strive to protect your privacy. To be in compliance with Federal regulations, you will be asked to sign a form saying that have received and understand current privacy guidelines.
Despite these protections, there are some exceptions by law that are designed to protect everyone:
--Suspected child abuse, dependent adult abuse, or elder abuse requires reporting the suspicions to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
--Clear evidence that the patient is an imminent danger to him/herself or to others, and that the patient is unable to collaborate with Dr. Raines to devise a plan of safety. Dr. Raines will then take steps to ensure the safety of the patient and/or other potentially threatened individuals.
